of the water…we have it tested every once in a while and nothing ever shows up…my clothes coming from the wash are disgusting and only the Master bathroom has smelly water..our well guy told us to pour bleach into the well..we did and seized the motor. Had to get a new pump. We ran bleach throughout out water filtration system. Still the same. We believe it could only be one thing that could be causing this…bad water coming in from the well.. maybe bacteria or something..so we would need to drill in a new spot…could it be anything else????????? I have had it with smelly water and want to sell my house…

I am looking to get a upgraded aquarium in the near future. I have a 75 Gallon Aquarium with 2 Oscars and a pleco in that. And i have a 55 Gallon tank with a Green Terror Cichlid, a convict cichlid, a senegal bichir, and a ornate bichir. I plan on keeping these tanks but i would like to get another tank to house 2-3 different oscars, and possibly a pike cichlid, and a jack dempsey. What Size aquarium and filtration set ups would i need to make this possible? I know how to care for the fish and i keep my aquariums clean with 30% bi-weekly water changes. Any Advice/feedback you can give me on my current set ups and my future set up would be greatly appreciated. thanks

My girlfriend just got me a 12 gallon Nano Cube Deluxe for Christmas. It should be delivered to my house soon. I’ve owned tropical fish as a child and I’m barely getting back into the interest of keeping small fish again in my early 30’s – so yes, I’m a novice with little experience. I know for beginners, it is recommended to get a 20+ gallon tank. However, I live in a one bedroom apartment with limited room so I thought this nano cube would best fit. I’ve done some research and found that people have successfully kept a pair of Rams in 12 gallon eclipse systems with some neon tetras. Would someone please (with personal experience & knowledgeable) let me know what fish (that looks good & is compatible with Rams) are small enough and hardy to successfully cycle a tank before introducing the German Blue Rams? FYI, I don’t plan on keeping live plants. I want this to be a clean and simple setup.

Also, anyone with experience with the Nano Cube 12g Deluxe (for fresh water) can let me know if there is an opening in the back of this tank to put an air tube through for an external air pump for a decorate air stone or something? From all the pictures (which are mostly marine setups), it appears that no one has air bubbles being pumped in. Don’t mean to sound like a big-time novice, but is there some type of technology in the 3-stage filtration system in the rear that oxygenates the water or something? My online research won’t turn anything up on this? Please help…

Any additional tips would be helpful.

drinking water filtration

Fluoride and your Drinking Water

If fluoride was beneficial to your health it would be in your daily multivitamin. The american public has been overly exposed to fluoride for many years.

Fluoride is a natural substance. The fluoride used to fluoridate water is actually an industrial waste derived from the fertilizer industry. As far as drinking it, there is no benefit at all. Fact is, fluoride is detrimental to human health. If you look at your favorite toothpaste you may find a warning – Do Not Swallow – now look at the active ingredients, you will find it contains fluoride. Warning – Small children are at risk of swallowing toothpaste.

Fluoride may not have any benefit to children’s teeth at all. In fact, excessive exposure to fluoride can cause fluoridation in young children’s developing teeth.

There are numerous other risks involved in the consumption of excessive fluoride.

1. Children can suffer from brain damage and/or lower IQ’s.

2. People with kidney disease are more susceptible to fluoride toxicity due to their impaired ability to excrete fluoride from the body.

3. Bone cancer – Harvard scientists have linked fluoride to osteosarcoma, a form of bone cancer mainly effecting young males.

4. Weakened bone strength increasing the risk of fracture.

5. Thyroid function – People drinking water containing fluoride who have a low iodine intake can experience reduction of thyroid activity possibly resulting in weight gain, depression or mental acuity.

One thing you can do to reduce your family’s consumption of fluoride is to use a reverse osmosis drinking water filtration system. There are many high quality systems on the market today. High quality reverse osmosis water filters will reduce fluoride to an acceptable level. Compare the NSF certification before you buy. Only buy an RO system that has a post filter. Look for a filtration system that uses high quality carbon block filters as this type of filtration will also reduce other drinking water contaminants of health concern.

Sooooo, i just got a new betta (crown tail), and he has been living at my house for about 30 hours. He is the sole occupant of a betta cube (1/2 gallon or 2L), which i bought as a "Marina Betta Kit". He has eaten a bit, i dont really expect him to eat much in the first days, but food was offered, and a couple flakes are left on the bottom of the cube uneaten… i have prior expirience with fish, as i have a successful 10 gallon tank running with some gouramis, and corydoras catfish.

Ok, now, i have some concerns:

1) I have heard that when bettas are stressed they tend to have horizontal lines on their bodies…mine DOES TOO!!! Should i be consered, or is it a thing for the first few days while he gets accustomed to his new home?(pls explain)

2) He is active…not very, but i know bettas tend to be sluggish at times…he swims around slowly, looks at everything, dips down to snatch some morsel off the gravel…chases his tail…sometimes comes up to the top. And when i come around, he shies away, but then comes out to investigate. Is there ANYTHING in that behavior that may consern you????

3) What would a healthy betta act like?Give me any things that could suggest illness…

4) He is in a 1/2 gallon cube that has some gravel at the bottom, 2 shoots of hornwort plant, and three pebbles. (The kit that i got for him is called the " Marina betta kit", so i am infering that all is right with the size, contents and the fact that there is no filtration, or heating…he is in a well heated room, away from drafts). So, is that all good?

5) Water changes for that small cube tank would be good twice a week or once?

6) I have some bloodworms that i feed to my other fish, should i supplement his diet with those? His normal food say that it contains bloodworm meal…so are the extra bloodworm necessary…or does all betta food contain bloodworm meal?

Thank you very much for any help you can give, TEN POINTS to anyone who can answer the best!!!

Hi, I am in no way new to keeping reptiles (including turtles), but I wanted to ask about the tank size owners of the Mata Mata suggest for a hatchling to an adult? What kind of filtration? PH levels? Gravel or sand? How frequent do you do water changes? Any feeding tips?
Thanks ahead of time.

I have very hard water and can not digest minerals. I would like to know what people like and which one is the most cost effective also.

If the hype about climate change/global warming is true and that there is a shortage of water, then why are we using water we could be drinking in our toilets?

I know there would be a large cost to go with the new pipes, filtration systems, etc… but why is it that politicians are telling us spending money should not be an issue for going green, like paying extra for energy efficient products, but it’s an issue if they have to spend money that could save an average of 34,000 gallons of fresh water per household.

But no, the only way for us to save our planet and people dying of thirst is to accept taxes and re-purchase everything in our house to get slightly more efficient.
My source on the water usage was off. I believe 27,000 Liters per year is correct.
Why can’t we use a separate pipe system for toilets that can handle saltwater? It’s not like we don’t have the means to do it, it would just cost a good deal of money and would take a lot of work.

Are we trying to save the planet or what, if the government is not willing to look into these alternative water sources that can save huge amounts of people that are dying of thirst, how am I suppose to take them seriously and blindly follow them in there climate change scheme.

The problem isn’t that they cannot do it, it’s that they don’t want to do it.
