All about Clean Water and Water Filters
Water is essential for life and most people today enjoy the taste of clean fresh water. When we drink water, minerals and other life giving elements are absorbed into our bodies for our use and energy. Through us the water passes back into the earth, and returns to the oceans to evaporate and continue a perfect natural cycle.
Filter technology existed prior in the1950s, however, few people are aware that our modern water filter technology is a product of the US space program. NASA needed a way to supply clean water and keep it fresh for long periods of time.
Activated charcoal is the result of this research. The charcoal contains silver ions that neutralize pathogens found in water. Consumer product companies brought this technology to the various commercial and home water filtration systems used by millions daily. There now are many commercial water filtration systems and drinking water filtration options. Below are a few of the water current filtration technologies in brief.
Carbon Water Filtration – The average carbon water filter will last on average 3-9 months. Some charcoal filters use activated nano-silver that provides extra antibacterial protection. Minerals in solution permeate a charcoal filter. That’s good, since minerals are essential to health. Charcoal water filters cannot change the pH balance of water. If you have acidic water, you will still have acidic water, as the minerals causing the acidity will be dissolved and therefore will pass through the carbon filter. Note also that carbon filters reduce in efficiency the longer they are in use. For this reason regular filter replacement is essential
Ceramic Water Filtration – A ceramic water filter utilizes elements of “diatomaceous earth”. This is a fossil substance from tiny silicon shells made up of trillions of microscopic algae called diatoms that inhabited the oceans for 150 million years. The growth of bacteria that becomes trapped either on the outside and inside of the element releases small quantities of positively charged ions. These ions are taken into the enzyme system of bacteria cell and neutralize the bacteria. Ceramic water filters can be renewed by brushing the outer surface with running water. As the top ceramic layer is brushed off and flushed, a new layer becomes available and active.
Reverse Osmosis Water Filtration – RO, or Reverse Osmosis water treatment, was originally developed to process water for submarines. Reverse Osmosis draws water through a series of extremely fine membranes. Each successive membrane acts like an extremely fine filter to transform saline (salt) water into drinkable water. Extreme pressure is applied to stop, and then reverse, the osmotic process. Some people now feel that RO water, like distilled water, is “dead water” because it does not contain necessary minerals.
Ionized Alkaline Water Filtration - Scientists have developed a method of separating water into alkaline ion water and acid mineral rich water. Water passes through a series of magnetically charged plates and a ceramic separator filament. The magnetic field draws alkaline minerals to one side of the ceramic filament, and acid to the opposite side.
Today the benefits of alkaline drinking water and the cleansing properties of acid water are becoming well known around the world. An ionic water alkalizer may be installed and used in the home. First it filters then separates the alkali and acid water through the ionizing chamber. Many people have reported health improvements and benefits from drinking alkaline water. Acid water can be used as a therapeutic topical application, and also be used as a powerful cleaning and antiseptic agent.
Who Needs a Water Filter in Their Home?
You may have heard that a lot of people nowadays are getting some kind of water filter system in their home.
Energy-Efficient Water Purification
Water and energy are two resources on which modern society depends.
How to Get Fluoride Out of Water
Your other option is to remove the fluoride from water yourself. You can’t boil it out — that actually concentrates the fluoride in the remaining water.
Do I Need An Iron Water Filter?
An iron water filter does a great job of removing iron from your water, but do you need one?
