Are water that comes out of a whole house water filtration system safe to water plants with?
There's a lot of water that comes out of the whole house water filtration system when it cleans itself. Mine is made by Kinetico and it's comes with 2 filter tanks and 1 softener tank. Can I water plants with that water? It is safe for lawn and other plant life? I hate to see all that water go to waste.
Thanks

there is no salt in soft water, there are sodium ions. salt is sodium chloride. i water my yard and flowers with soft water and have no problems. water softeners remove much of the chlorine from the water. i would be more concerned with the effect of spraying them with heavily chlorinated water.
Water softeners use salt to remove calcium from water. Salt, at any concentration, is bad for plants. Outside water faucets should be connected directly to city or well supply.
Interesting debate and do not know which comment is correct. Do a test with some plants you do not care about losing. It seems that soft water would be a problem.
