Brita is pretty good. I don’t know what’s inexpensive for you, but its only about $35.

There is a under the sink mountable filtration system sold at Home Depot that works really well. Its made by Hague Quality Water…. its a three stage reverse osmosis system.
Brita is amazing and you can actually open the lid and see the bad stuff being taking out of your drinking water! you can also use purify which is really good too! happy hunting!
Wal-Mart
Brita (Britta)? as well as other branded products mfg. pitchers with filters.
Just my 2 "sense"
I use the Brita water pitcher and it works great, inexpensive, and you only change the filter every three months.
The pitchers(most brands) work really great. The water tastes so much better. they are fairly cheap like 20-30 for the pitcher and one filter then like 20-30 for 4 filters. One filter is good for 40 gallons of water. so that is like .19 cents for a gallon of water.
The britta pitcher works pretty well. Lowes has the cheepest filters in 3 packs.
There are several brands of water filters that you can attach to the faucet, put under your sink or filter the entire house.
If you are going to go to the trouble of putting one under the sink, I would suggest that you put a whole house filter in instead. It will cost you about the same and it is no more difficult for the plumber to install, probably easier (more room in the basement/utility room).
I have an Omega brand but it Will take Culligan filters as well as other brands of filter. You want to make sure you are not locked into buying a specialized filter that only fits "your" brand of filter.
Happy drinking
I used an inline ice machine filter on my boat and it does a good job. I don’t recall the brand but I don’t think it matters. You just buy whatever adapters you need from Home Depot or Lowes with flexible lines. Very easy. Good luck.
