I have a saltwater tank and I had a "rubber type fake annonime" in my tank for the last 3 months and it developed a white substance/film on it and has broken down . I have lost a coral beauty and now my humma humma trigger hasn’t ate in a week or more and looks very skinny and lean. the water tests perfect at a repatable store.i haev a false clown that stays on the top of the tank swimming in the stream and is doing just fine. I believe the "rubber type fake annonime" has poisoned the water somehow i have removed it and changed the carbon filter. what do u think is wrong ? any suggestions?
my tank is 35 gal.and is octoganal
the water looks and smells perfectly fine
im not sure if it was rubber
but on the tag it says "safe for all aquariums" ….what the heck is wrong with my fish ??
i also have 7 to 8 small hermit crabs and they seem fine!!

I am a new entrant into aquarium hobby. I have 3 aquariums and one fish pond. I have flower horn, silver arowana, and other fishes. Can I use RO processed mineral water for the aquariums and pond?

I am looking to get a upgraded aquarium in the near future. I have a 75 Gallon Aquarium with 2 Oscars and a pleco in that. And i have a 55 Gallon tank with a Green Terror Cichlid, a convict cichlid, a senegal bichir, and a ornate bichir. I plan on keeping these tanks but i would like to get another tank to house 2-3 different oscars, and possibly a pike cichlid, and a jack dempsey. What Size aquarium and filtration set ups would i need to make this possible? I know how to care for the fish and i keep my aquariums clean with 30% bi-weekly water changes. Any Advice/feedback you can give me on my current set ups and my future set up would be greatly appreciated. thanks

1. How many pellets a day should i feed a 3 inch oscar fish ( tiger oscar )
2. Do oscars like blood worms as a treat once or twice a week?
3. Can i feed my oscar house hold flies?
4. How much generally do young ( 2-3 months, can eat pellets ) tiger oscars cost at petco or petsmart?
5. How long does it take for an oscar to get to know you ?
6. If I clean my oscars tank once a week, how much water should I change?
7. Do oscars have good eye sight?
8. How much does a plain 30 gallon oscar setup cost? ( standard, i already have a filter that outputs 190 liters an hour, not sure in gallons , is that enough? )
9.Do oscars like aquariums with just gravel and a few large rocks a fake plants or do they like more ornaments and plants?
10. Is it alright to pet your oscar? I heard it removes their slime coat therefore lowering their immune system.
11.How long does an oscar live if he lives in a 30 gallon tank with thoroug filtration and weekly water changes and fed a varied diet? He will get lots of attention
This is a bit off subject, but do Goldfish like bloodworms
Sorry for so many questions but anyone who answers them all will for sure get 10 points.
12. do oscars need bubblers if they have filtration?
13. do they actually like to play with ping pong balls?

ok Im maken a home made water filter for tap water..i bought Activated carbon for aquariums, but when i compared it to brita water filter carbon, it seems the brita has much smaller granulated carbon, plus something added in, like tiny white pebbles, i don’t know what that is.. i am thinking to use two kinds of carbon, one to get rid of bigger material in water (microscopic size) and one kind to be able to absorb even smaller micron size material… I figure AC (activated carbon) for fish tanks be good to filter larger stuff, but where can i find the kind of AC to absorb real smaller material?
