I’ve tested a few different bottled waters… poland spring, deer park, and generic "spring" waters. I used an aquarium ph test kit. The "spring" water comes up very low on the ph scale somewhere between 4 and 6. My tap water comes up either basic or slightly alkaline. Since I started having heartburn and reflux, I figured it might be from the acidity of all the bottled I was drinking so I switched back to tap. I know that a slightly alkaline system is more desirable and most disease and cancers can’t exist in an alkaline environment.

Does anyone know if acidic drinking water alters your body chemistry and if it is worse for you to drink alkaline tap or acidic bottled water.

I’ve heard that drinking bottled water, usually the ‘pure’ brands, those that ate triple filtered by reverse osmosis etc. can lead to thus water actually removing minerals from your body. Supposedly due to osmosis, high concentration ( body) to low (water). Even if this was so, wouldn’t the water you drank that removed the minerals in the first place be absorbed by your body, and thus the minerals as well?

Okay, so many of the bottled waters like Aquafina are just tap water. At least what I’m reading online. So if I want to drink the purest water where is it? Is it tap water? Is it some other bottled water? Is it though using a PUR water filter piycher at home? What’s the real deal?

I put the following question on the Enviroment site and realized I should have put it in engineering. The concensis was that it would be too expensive when cheaper water is available, which I assume means bottled water trucked in. I’d still like to know if the units could be redesigned to be run more efficiently and be mass produced should potable water NOT be available.

The military claims that some of it’s units can remove hazardous chemicals as well as radioactive waste.

The question was posed:
Can the military’s ROWPU be used for providing potable water anywhere?

I’ve read that, in Iraq, the Marine’s Reverse Osmosis Water Purification Units have removed cyanide and mustard-gas agents from Euphrates River water and created pure safe drinking water. I realize the output of these units are limited, but, can they be used daily for community drinking water here, where we’re warned not to drink our slightly radioactive well water

Since the government are evil bastards and decide to poison our water l don’t know how to get pure water. l live in a city and l definitely don’t trust my water. l did not drink water for 4 days and running out of options. l don’t have distiller or water filter. Lm not sure about bottled water l know some don’t have it and have to check. You do realize that fluoride does not help your teeth, it’s poison same thing for toothpaste, Please BE CAREFUL as to what you drink, eat and what you brush your teeth with. No lm not lying or making a conspiracy theory just google it.

I have checked the cut off under the sink and it is turned on. There is an air pressure tank, but I’m not sure how much PSI it is supposed to be. I have just recently replaced the filters and sense it may have something to do with them but I have double checked and installed correctly (not the first time I have done this either). I am stumped. We are buying bottled water and oh what a hassle. Any help out there?

Home brewing purest will either typically boil all water used for home brewing. I know some use filters that attach to the faucet and others use bottled water (which I’m convinced is just tap water). Will water purification tablets work without adding a odd flavor to the beer?
ok, anyone have a more thorough answer than ‘yes’?

I am wondering what the best water to drink is.

I have researched so much about distilled, spring, and drinking water and how bottled water that is basically tap water.

The processes such as reverse osmosis, Charcoal…etc.

I want PURE water. Water with no fluoride or anything else harmful and with its minerals. Every filter seems to have some problem with it whether it takes out important minerals or some that leaves in fluoride…etc

It seems that no one has this answer no matter how much I Research.

I live in a hurricane zone where flooding is natural because of a valley. It is now hurricane season. The situation in Missouri,Ohio, and some of the states that got flooded[by rivers] has heightened my awareness of the need for a water purification system.Bottled water is expensive[about for 5 gallons] and we drink 20 gallons or more easily in a week. We got a Culligan system with a pitcher but it needed filters. We never figured out how to install the under the tap Culligan[ and my brother is both intelligent and good with his hands]. I have searched the internet but I do not want to spend money on something that is advertised as the best but complex to use or expensive [needing filters every 4-6 weeks]].We need a system that will give a warning when the filter needs changing. Is there anyone who uses a ‘great’ system or who can give some suggestions? We want to be prepared for any emergency. Help!

I went shopping with some friends.

They bought bottled water and I joked with them about how they don’t drink from the tap.

They basically said the bottled water is cleaner and different from the tap…so they drink from the bottled water most of the time and the sink every once in a while. (They use Brita with the sink, though).

So then I try to convince them that the Brita filtered water is the same crap as what’s in the bottles, and they believe me.

SO, I offer the idea of getting a stainless steel water bottle so they can take it to class with them (they got bottles so they can carry it to school) and I was like, "the bottle will last 1000 years so you never have to waste your money on the bottled water."

Know what they said? "Oh, but I don’t need something to last that long."

Look, the only two companies that have pure filtered water are Dasani and Aquafina. Dasani is reverse osmosis filtered water with minerals added, but Aquafina is reverse osmosis filtered with nothing added. (They didn’t understand reverse osmosis or the idea of added minerals).

Is it wrong for me to be bothered that the general population thinks just like they do and is wasting oil for these dang bottles of water?
