I have a private well system here in Wasilla, AK and I am not happy with the water quality. I used a shower filter to remove chlorine etc when I lived in California but that is not the problem now. The water causes dry skin, tastes horrible and seems to have a lot of calcium and iron in it. I had some tests done and was offered a Water conditioner that uses polymer beads and a seperate system that uses reverse osmosis to filter and soften all of the water in the house. This will cost around 00 is that the best way to go or does anyone know of a better option? I do want to filter all of the water in the house for drinking, cooking, bathing laundry etc. Are there certain things I need to leave in the water for health reasons? Is it ok to strip the water of as many minerals etc as I can?
Tap probably not due to pollutants, however it contains flouride which is good for the teeth and other electrolytes allowing slight alkalization. I believe reverse osmosis removes all of te electrolytes to a large degree causing acidification, never good for the body due to calcium and mg being released to neutralise it. I guess that leaves bottled and filtered. Please back up any answers with a logical explanation, I’m not reallly into old wives tales. Thanks.
I live in a 1994 modular home. I have been here for almost 3 yrs. As far as I know the water heater is I live in a 1994 modular home. I have been here for almost 3 yrs. As far as I know the water heater is the original one, the problem I am having is that when it heats the water up it sounds like popping from inside it. like something is banging around inside.
The community has well water and it has a LOT of calcium in it. they started flushing the system when i moved here and the rust is now gone but still a lot of calcium. I have a small filtration system in my house but it does very little to help. I don’t know if I should call someone to come out because the only way to get to the heater is through my closet and i think i have to pry open the wall. if anyone knows what might be going on please help.
I am convinced that Sodium Fluoride is harmful to the brain.

I have this water filter at home in the garage and it’s a water softener that uses the salt pellets. Does this device remove sodium fluoride or just calcium and the other positively charged stuff???
What happens when you mix calcium hydroxide and water and then filter it?
Calcium hydroxide is not very soluble in water at room temperature (less than 0.2 grams/100 mL).
When mixed with water and filtered, much of the Calcium hydroxide will be held in the filter paper.
The filtrate is called lime water and it is used to test for the presence of Carbon dioxide. It will react with CO2 to form Calcium Carbonate (CaCO3) which is a white solid.
