We need a a whole house water filtration system. What are my options?
We want to get away from the cartriage type water filters for our well water. Is there anything, like the size of a water softener, that would backwash itself?

Yes you have several options based on the type of water you have. You will first have to get your water tested and see what is in it. Sulphur, iron, mineral deposits(hard water) or micro organisms. You can have your own water treatment plant in your basement if you want. These systems are very expensive. Call a water treatment specialist to come out and test your water and design a system that is right for you.
