grass don’t know never heard of it for filtration
activated carbon removes chlorine and odors
Sand removes heavy particle such as iron.
sand should be before carbon.
If this is no potable water ie not from a safe source you should not use it for drinking until it goes through a purification process well beyond sand and carbon.
